Syllabus: Wood variability in commercially planted species in Brazil. Basic principles of wood sampling for different analyses. Wood characteristics and their importance for industrial utilization. Relationship between tree age and wood properties. Characteristics of heartwood and sapwood. Impacts of silvicultural practices and management (spacing, coppicing, etc.) on wood quality. Influence of different growth environments on eucalyptus wood quality. Field sampling procedures. Presentation of wood quality data.
