Syllabus: Terminology and importance. Study of abiotic factors regulating natural regeneration in tropical forests. The soil seed bank. Influence of seed rain on the regeneration process. Importance of natural regeneration in the colonization of clearings and areas with anthropic disturbances. Implications of fragmentation and degradation intensity on natural regeneration. Studies on the dynamics of natural regeneration.
